Our Works

Welcome to the heart of our foundation's work. We are dedicated to transforming our partner schools into schools of character where core essential values are instilled in learners and members of the school community. Our work revolves around empowering school leaders and educators to develop and fortify comprehensive character initiatives that not only shape young minds but also cultivate environments where ethical values thrive.

Why Choose Character Education?

At the core of our foundation lies the belief that character education is the key to building a brighter future. By instilling a strong foundation of moral values in students, we aim to create not just academically successful individuals but also compassionate and responsible citizens.

Character First offers dynamic, proven, research-based character education resources that make building character clear, fun, and memorable for children and teens.

While character formation begins at home, we believe everyone who interacts with a child or teen has an opportunity to teach or encourage positive social values.

Developing the next Generation of Transformed Citizens

The foundation is dedicated to supporting education and educational programmes that promote good citizenship in the youth and help develop future generations of good citizens in Ghana and Africa. We believe that Ghana and Africa's problems can be solved by inspired, ethical, and enlightened young leaders.

Our goal is to invest in education that creates an evolutionary change in the cultural and societal conduct that can produce future leaders who will transform the African continent.

We therefore support education that imbues the youth with cultural and personal character traits that commonly promote ethics, integrity, responsibility, respect for laws, a love for work, a focus on outcomes, the effort to save and invest, a desire to plan for the future, punctuality, and a will to be productive. By building these qualities in their formative stage, we can create a transformed generation of responsible citizens and ethical leaders.

What we seek to achieve through the Character Education Programme

The Foundation aims to provide a well-rounded education that nurtures the intellectual, physical, and social growth of learners through its Character Education programme. The programme's objective is to cultivate responsible citizens who understand and positively contribute to their communities and societies.

The Foundation's vision is to create critical mass of responsible citizens in Ghana and Africa within the next two to three generations. The ultimate goal of the programme is to instill cultural and personal character traits in the youth and future generations of Ghanaians and Africans, which will promote and accelerate the development of the continent.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Character?

When we talk about character, we mean the inward values that determine outward actions; the mental model used for making decisions; the moral compass that guides your choices; who we are when no one else is watching.

Why does Character matter?

Many problems in today’s classroom can be traced to a lack of character, including bullying, disrespect, cheating, tardiness, vandalism, profanity, and drug abuse—which hinder childhood development, student achievement, school safety, and public confidence. That’s why more than 100,000 teachers, parents, and youth workers around the world have used Character First Education to help them define behavioral objectives, reinforce positive behaviors, and create a culture that values good character.

How did Character First begin?

Character First began in 1992 as a leadership development program at Kimray Inc, an Oklahoma City-based manufacturing company. Every month, Kimray employees would study a different character trait and how it related to corporate values such as honesty, quality, safety, and service. It made such a difference in their workplace culture that in 1996, local school and police officials asked if Character First could be adapted to public education—and Character First Education was born. In 2012, Character First was acquired by Strata Leadership LLC, which offers a wider range of character-based programs for business, government, and public safety
